XML saves the world <?>

The world is complex

The basic idea of XML is quite simple.  Phil has said it can be explained in a couple of paragraphs.

XML is a textual format for representing arbitrary annotated hierarchical (nested) structures.  It uses angle brackets to distinguish structural markup from free text.

But XML's use in a wide range of problems should not be allowed to deceive us into thinking that the world's complexities can be reduced to the simplicity of XML.
