Connolly's bane
"The bane of my existence is doing things I know the computer could do for me." [1]
-- Dan Connolly, on XML, in 1998.
"The bane of my existence is doing things I know the computer could do for me... and getting it
wrong!" [2]
-- Dan Connolly, on Semantic Web travel tools, in 2002.
Dan's theme in both of these commentaries is the goal of having computer applications communicate with
each other, with minimal or no
human intervention. XML was a first step to achieving this at a syntactic level. RDF is
a first step to achieving this at a semantic level.
