The idea for the home network configuration application was inspired in part by a submission to the IETF by Atarashi, et al, on XML network configuration [1].

This application was developed for the European Semantic Web Advanced Development [2], a European Union funded collaborative project to explore and demonstrate the practical applications of Semantic Web technologies, as part of investigations by Rutherford Appleton Laboratory [3] into support for Grid technologies and the automated formation of virtual organizations.
