Datatype incompatibility with XML schema
The definition of datatypes is incompatible with XML Schema. Removing the requirement that each value have a lexicalization would remove a source of incompatability, and would not change anything as far as RDF is concerned.

We understood the comment as referring to union datatypes and have thus weakened the condition to read: "Each member of the value space may be paired with any number (including zero) of members of the lexical space (lexical representations for that value)."
